Research Officer for Improving Attainment in Mathematics Project

A Research Officer is required for one year to support the work of the 
Improving Attainment in Mathematics Project, based at the Department of 
Educational Studies, University of Oxford with Anne Watson, also with Liz 
Bills at the University of Warwick and Steph Prestage at the University of 
Birmingham.   The aim of the project is to develop mathematical thinking 
with low attaining Year 7 students.

The work involves extensive contact with project teachers in secondary 
schools, collecting and analysing data from their classrooms.   The officer 
will also be involved in some aspects of project management.  Recent 
experience of mathematics teaching in the UK maintained sector is 
essential; research and organisational experience is desirable.  The 
appointment will run from Jan 1st 2002 to Dec 31st 2002 and will be on 
Researcher 1A scale.  Further details can be obtained from Dr Anne Watson
