Postdoctoral Position in Computational Astrophysics and Cosmology – University of Seville
Centro/Institution: Universidad de Sevilla
Tipo/Type: Postdoctoral
País/Country: Spain
Fecha límite: 2026-10-15
Descripción/Description: Applications are invited for one Postdoctoral Position in Computational Astrophysics and Cosmology at the University of Seville (Spain) to work with Dr. Sergio Contreras and Dr. Jose Oñorbe within the Multiscale Astrophysics Group (GAMEs).
The successful candidate will join an active research team working on cosmological constraints from large astronomical surveys, the galaxy–halo connection, galaxy formation and evolution, and cosmic reionisation. Research activities will involve a combination of theoretical modelling, numerical simulations, statistical methods, and the analysis of observational data from current and upcoming large-scale surveys.
The successful candidate will contribute to ongoing projects within the group while also having the opportunity to develop independent research lines. The position provides access to state-of-the-art computational resources, simulation tools, and an extensive international network of collaborators.
Applicants with a strong background in computational astrophysics, cosmology, galaxy formation, large-scale structure, reionisation, or related fields are encouraged to apply. The appointment will be for 2.5 years, starting in April 2027 and ending on 31 August 2029. Applicants should hold a PhD in Physics, Astrophysics, Astronomy, or a closely related field.
To be considered for the position, applicants should submit:
A curriculum vitae (maximum 2 pages).
A complete publication list.
A research statement (maximum 3 pages).
Contact information for at least two referees.
The application deadline is 12 October 2026.
Requests for additional information and informal enquiries should be directed to: astro_games at us.es
Applications must be submitted via the following form:
https://forms.gle/VYx959yFcUsKVyeU8
Review of applications will begin immediately after the deadline and will continue until the position is filled.
We particularly encourage applications from candidates from diverse backgrounds who are interested in advancing our understanding of cosmology, galaxy formation, and the evolution of the Universe.
