Subject: IMPORTANT: Flushing of water taps in Physics buildings

Dear all,

With ambient temperatures still high, may I ask for assistance from staff, particularly lab teams, to flush both cold and hot water taps within all areas of Physics as part of mitigations to minimise Legionella risk.

Ideally water taps should be turned on and allowed to flow to drain for five minutes. Please avoid creating water droplet aerosol spray during this process; this can be achieved by turning taps on slowly for the first few minutes before ramping up the flow. There is minimal concern over WC water outlets and cisterns as these tend to be used frequently.
