In this talk, I will present a new approach that extends these results to maximally symmetric curved spacetimes. The new relations are formulated in twistor space, a complex projective space that encodes solutions to the equations of motion as holomorphic data. First, I will discuss the case of AdS?, where a double copy structure for bulk to boundary correlators and black hole solutions naturally arises in minitwistor space. Then, I will show how in (A)dS? one can construct bulk correlation functions using only twistors, dual twistors, and the infinity twistor as building blocks. The relation to coordinate space arises via nested Penrose transforms. The boundary limit of these correlators yields CFT correlators / wavefunction coefficients that satisfy the expected Ward identities and obey a simple double copy relation. Disrupting the Baryon Cycle in Cluster Galaxies and BCGs Galaxies undergo an astrophysical balancing act between gas cooling and energy feedback; in cluster environments, this delicate equilibrium can be significantly disrupted through gas stripping, changes to gas accretion, shock-induced heating, or the suppression of star formation. Spatially-resolved observations of three critical ISM components ? gas, dust, and stars ? are crucial to understand the complex interplay between these mechanisms and the overall galactic baryon cycle within cluster galaxies. With kiloparsec-scale observations from ultraviolet to submillimeter wavelengths, I will discuss recent results from ongoing campaigns with ALMA and HST to map the molecular gas kinematics, dust continuum morphologies, star formation efficiency, and feedback in high-redshift cluster galaxies; these observations span the star-forming main-sequence cluster population to the most massive galaxies ? the brightest cluster galaxy (BCG). I will highlight evidence for elevated gas fractions, asymmetric gas kinematics, and potential ram-pressure stripping at high redshift, as well as the discovery of a 30 kiloparsec dust tail stemming from a BCG, potentially launched by AGN jets. Doppler spectroscopy using ground-based high-resolution spectrographs has emerged as one of the most promising recent techniques to characterise the atmospheres of planets in physical regimes beyond the solar system. Recent studies of gas-giant exoplanets have yielded extraordinary precision on the thermal and chemical properties of their atmospheres, providing insights into their extraordinary formation histories and climates. Astronomy Lunch Talk Guillaume Hewitt No hidden monsters and Survival of the faintest: Probing the quenching pathways of high- and low-mass PSBs Quenching models for massive galaxies frequently invoke AGN feedback as a primary mechanism. However, the lack of evidence for excess AGN activity in recently quenched post-starburst galaxies (PSBs) may suggest that AGN are not the dominant quenching mechanism, that AGN activity is short-lived and does not extend into the PSB phase, or that the AGN are heavily obscured. If obscured AGN are present in PSBs, they should still be detectable through hot-dust emission in the infrared. In this talk, I present results on the mid-infrared emission of PSBs in the PRIMER-UDS field. Waterloo, Canada) The status of single scalar field dark energy We are entering an exciting era in cosmology, with tantalizing hints of dynamical dark energy. While current data are not sufficient to fully characterize its nature, they may already offer clues about its microphysical properties. Assuming that the latest observations (DESI BAO + SNe Ia + CMB) are correct and that dark energy arises from a scalar field, I will show that the cosmological data exhibit a strong preference for either a non-minimal coupling to gravity or a non-standard kinetic term, along with a preference for a negative squared mass. However, these scenarios have distinct implications at the level of the ISW, cosmic structure growth and Solar System constraints on deviations from General Relativity. Astronomy Seminar Renske Smit (LJMU) The cold side of galaxy formation at the cosmic dawn The study of galaxy formation in the first billion years of cosmic time (z>6) has recently seen a transformation due to the long-awaited data from the JWST. Galaxies that were first glimpsed by Hubble, now have measurements of star-formation, metal build-up and ionisation properties from emission lines emerging in hot, ionised gas. The physical processes underlying early star and galaxy formation, however, require understanding of the cold gas and dust in these systems, which can now be studied by combining state of the art data from ALMA and the JWST. In this talk I will focus on the latest results to understand the build-up of the first dust reservoirs in galaxies, the distribution of cold gas and dust and the dynamical state of the cold gas in these galaxies. I will show new results on the detection of the 2175A ?UV bump? at z>6, that arises due to the presence of small carbonaceous dust grains (such as PAHs) and the constraints that we derive for the formation and growth of dust in the early Universe. I will furthermore talk about the formation of the first disk galaxies in the first billion years of cosmic time and the turbulence of the cold gas that has the potential to regulate star-formation activity in these early galaxies. --- Thursday 18th June at 1pm, A113 CAPT ? Astronomy Lunch Talk Bruno Rodriguez del Pino (CAB, INTA) GA-NIFS: High prevalence of dusty and metal enriched outflows in massive star-forming galaxies at z = 3 ? 9 Galactic outflows are considered to play a critical role in the regulation of the stellar mass growth of galaxies and their metal content. With the arrival of the JWST, the study of galactic outflows can be extended to the very early epochs of galaxy formation and evolution. In particular, the IFS capabilities of the NIRSpec instrument provide a unique opportunity to explore the spatially resolved properties of the outflowing gas in high-redshift galaxies through their optical rest-frame emission. In this talk I will present the results from the study of the incidence and properties of galactic outflows in a sample of 15 massive, star-forming systems at 3 < z < 9 (containing around 30 galaxies) observed with NIRSpec/JWST as part of the GA-NIFS program. We report a high incidence of ionized outflows (40%), which in several cases can be spatially resolved and display velocities that increase gradually towards higher star formation rates (SFRs). We find that the outflowing gas is more attenuated and metal enriched than the interstellar medium (ISM) of the hosts, suggesting that outflows contribute to distribute dust and metals throughout galaxies. Despite the high prevalence of outflows in our systems, we find that they generally do not have a significant impact on the star formation activity of their host galaxies.
