This email has been sent to Faculty APVCs for RKE, Heads of RKE, School Directors of Research, and the Research Development Network mailing list. Apologies if, as a result of distribution channels, you receive this email more than once.

Dear all,

Further to my recent communications around the pre-announcement for the UKRI FLF Round 10 scheme<https://www.ukri.org/opportunity/future-leaders-fellowships-round-10/>, I include below details on the institutional sift timeline. As an institution we can submit 8 proposals and will select those going forward in this round through an Expression of Interest (EOI) stage and challenge panel sessions, which we anticipate will be useful to all candidates in refining their project for this and other opportunities.

Expression of Interest deadline - 3 main components:

1. Expression of Interest document;

2. Email confirmation of support from School/ Department;

3. Diversity monitoring form

Further details and the relevant templates and links are available on SharePoint<https://uniofnottm.sharepoint.com/sites/O365-ResearchDevelopmentandFunding/SitePages/Future-Leaders-Fellowships-round-10.aspx>.

Thursday 13 Feb 2025

First stage sift results and feedback (approx. 10 candidates to proceed to challenge panels)

24-28 March 2025

Challenge panels

Thursday 3 April 2025

Final 8 candidates selected to submit to round 10

Tuesday 20 May 2025

Draft institutional support letters; and match funding requests (if applicable) deadline

Wednesday 18 June 2025

UKRI closing date

Our SharePoint page<https://uniofnottm.sharepoint.com/sites/O365-ResearchDevelopmentandFunding/SitePages/Future-Leaders-Fellowships-round-10.aspx> also provides access to resources from the 27 November information session, including the recording and reflections from previous successful applicants. External applicants are welcome to email me for these resources as email attachments.

We strongly encourage those interested in submitting an Expression of Interest to contact the Faculty/ School Research Development team as soon as possible as School/Department support is required for the EOI stage.

Please do get in touch if you have any queries.

Best wishes,

Madalina

Subject: UKRI Future Leaders Fellowships Round 10 - pre-announcement and internal information session

This email has been sent to Faculty APVCs for RKE, Heads of RKE, School Directors of Research, and the Research Development Network mailing list. Apologies if, as a result of distribution channels, you receive this email more than once.

Dear all,

Round 10 of the UKRI Future Leaders Fellowships is at pre-announcement stage: https://www.ukri.org/opportunity/future-leaders-fellowships-round-10/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery. The Future Leaders Fellowships (FLF) are for early career researchers and innovators who are either looking to establish or transition to independence, or developing their own original and ambitious plans within a commercial setting.

Support is available across UKRI’s remit, and there is no minimum or maximum award value (previous awards to UoN based fellows have been for between £1.2-£1.5m). Awards are for up to four years, with the option to apply to renew for a further three years. The support will enable each fellow to tackle ambitious and challenging research and innovation and develop their own careers.

Institutional sift

Please note that this call is centrally managed as UKRI have capped the number of applications per institution. UoN is able to submit a total of 8 applications and therefore a sift process will be put in place. This will be a highly competitive process and will require strong commitment from your host School/Department. We will select those going forward in this round through an expression of interest (EOI) document and a challenge panel session, which we anticipate will be useful to all candidates in refining their project for this and other opportunities. More details will be provided towards the end of November, after the internal information session.

Information session (27 November, 11-12, Microsoft Teams)

We have arranged an information session on the UKRI FLF Round 10 scheme. This session will be held on Wednesday 27 November, 11-12, over Teams, and will include background on the scheme, reflections from previous successful applicants, a timeline of next steps for those applying for this round and time for questions. Please register here<https://forms.office.com/e/zdXD6kSX2A> for the session. Resources from the session will be made available afterwards on our SharePoint pages.

Please get in touch if you have any questions.

Best wishes,

Madalina
