Can I check for an array value <br>

I debug my array and get this:<br>

graphic,text,index<br>
<br>
But,<br>
<br>
debug(attributeArray.indexOf('graphic')); //returns undefined.<br>
<br>
indexOf not supported or my syntax stinks?<br>
