In this case, I think I found the issue, which was a bit baffling in itself.<br>

There were some ghost characters in the xml descriptor file I was loading.<br>
Why it would work on first run, then fail on the second run, I don't know.<br>

A bit of a drag, as you have to close right out of everything and restart to
