<div>Hello Everyone,<br></div><div><br></div><div>I am delighted to announce the issue of a new release of the page wizard zip file which can now be downloaded from the Page Wizards page of the Xerte Wiki.</div><div><br></div>
<div>In part this is playing catch-up by providing 2 new page wizards</div><div><br></div><div>Interactive Diagram</div><div>and </div><div>Interactive List </div><div><br></div><div>These pages are available in the latest release of Xerte in the Page Templates project wide template so this brings the Page Wizards back up to date.</div>
<div><br></div><div>In part this is a maintenance release in that there are a couple of bug fixes and adding of features that have recently been added to pages in the latest version of Page Templates.</div><div><br></div>
<div>This release also introduces a new original Page Wizard - the Practice page.</div><div><br></div><div>This page allows you to define practice groups and to assign practice items to a practice group.</div><div>Each practice item, as well as belonging to a practice group has a practice level.</div>
<div><br></div><div>The end user i.e. the student or learner can select the practice level and then the page will present them with all practice items, one at a time, in random order, that are at that practice level or an easier level. A significant feature is the ability to utilise the items in sequence or combined.</div>
<div><br></div><div>An example will illustrate this</div><div>Say there are 3 practice groups A, B and C each with 3 practice items in each group.</div><div>Used in sequence this will generate 9 practice screens (3 + 3 + 3) e.g. screen A1, screen A2, screen A3, screen B1 etc.</div>
<div>Used in combination this will generate 27 practice screens (3 x 3 x 3) e.g. screen A1 B1 C1, screen A1 B1 C2, screen A1 B1 C3, screen A1 B2 C1 etc.</div><div><br></div><div>I have used this to set up random musical instrument scales practice e.g.</div>
<div>Group - Perform</div><div>Item 1 C Major Scale - Level Easiest</div><div>Item 2 G Major Scale - Level Easiest</div><div>Item 3 C Minor Scale - Level Easy</div><div>etc.</div><div><br></div><div>Group - Hands</div><div>
Item 1 Right Hand - Level Easiest</div><div>Item 2 Left Hand - Level Easiest</div><div>Item 3 Both Hands - Level Moderate</div><div><br></div><div>Group - Dynamics</div><div>Item 1 mf - Level Easiest</div><div>Item 2 mp - Level Hard</div>
<div>Item 3 p < f > p - Level Hardest</div><div><br></div><div>By using these groups combined the Student will be presented with practice screens such as </div><div><br></div><div><strong>Perform</strong> - C Major</div>
<div><strong>Hands</strong> - Left Hand</div><div><strong>Dynamics</strong> - mp</div><div><br></div><div>The careful selection of practice level means that the student can start at Easiest and practice Major scales with one hand only at a time and only at mf.</div>
<div>Selecting level Easy brings in additionally the Minor Scales</div><div>Selecting level Moderate brings in practice with both hands</div><div>Selecting level Hard also now introduces an alternative dynamic</div><div>Selecting level Hardest now includes every possible combination and introduces the harder dynamic.</div>
<div><br></div><div>Hints can be added to every Practice Item to assist in correct practice.</div><div><br></div><div>Once completed the student can click on Restart, whereupon the page refreshes and they can select a new practice level.</div>
<div><br></div><div>I hope that you may find this a useful addition to the Page Wizards</div><div><br></div><div>Kind regards</div><div><br></div><div>Johnathan</div>
