I have discovered by analyzing the error logs that the media folder is not being created.

When a new user logs in for the first time, Xerte creates a folder (e.g.) 8-newuser-Nottingham with the correct permissions, but does not create the media folder within it, so when the user attempts to upload (e.g.) an image the file cannot be uploaded and
the preview cannot function.

I can get around this for now by manually creating folders with the correct permissions, but: 1. we only have 8 users and this will hopefully vastly increase, and 2. if more folders are required (e.g. for other kinds of media) the process will fail until I
manually create these folders too.
each project will have a media folder. If you go into user-files folder can you see the projects folder? In it's media folder is the file?
It sounds like a rights issue when a file is uploaded?
What are the security settings for the userfiles and project folder?
Subject: [Xerte] "FileLocation + " error

Hi all.

I am a techie in our Computer Services department and a recent job for
me was to install Xerte Online Toolkits onto a 'spare' server for use
around the college. Install was apparently successful and I handed over
to the users to create resources.

One of them has reported an error when adding in an image. They choose
the image (say img.jpg) and in the text box next to 'Image' you get
"FileLocation + " showing, then "/media/img.jpg". This looks wrong, and
clicking on the preview button produces an error popup reading: You must
select media before you can preview it."

I thought I had everything correct during install but maybe not. I'd be
grateful for any assistance those on this list can provide as Google
turned up very little.

Regards,

Paul.
