Behind the scenes, Xerte tiles a number of textfields down the screen, and uses a mask to only show them in the panel. As items change, code takes care of the scrolling, moving the current textfield the topmost position.

So that means that every stanza in the demo is actually a different "subpage" in Xerte even
though it appears as part of a continuous document in the preview? I will give that a try.
Thanks all.

-------------- Original message ---------------
Date sent: Wed, 20 May 2009 20:53:39 +0100
From: Julian Tenney <Julian.Tenney@nottingham.ac.uk>
Subject: RE: [Xerte] How to use transcript reader--instructions?
To: "Xerte discussion list" <xerte@lists.nottingham.ac.uk>
Send reply to: Xerte discussion list <xerte@lists.nottingham.ac.uk>

It is. Something you might not know is that if you preview the sound, then everytime you
press the pause button, the current time in milliseconds is put on your clipboard. I don't see anything
in the Help file, but maybe it doesn't cover the page templates.

The demo (http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/toolkits/play_560) shows stanzas of a poem
highlighed in sync with the mp3. I assume there is only one mp3 file involved because when I
use the Nottingham Templates to experiment, I see a sync button. I assume you enter the
number of seconds for the next sub page to be shown. But I'm not getting it, and I am not
sure how to proceed.

What is the workflow for the transcript reader? And are there size constraints I should bear
in mind? Should I break the reading up into different mp3 files for easier/faster performance
for the end user?

Thanks.

_______________________________________________
Xerte mailing list
Xerte@lists.nottingham.ac.uk
_______________________________________________
Xerte mailing list
Xerte@lists.nottingham.ac.uk
http://lists.nottingham.ac.uk/mailman/listinfo/xerte
