problems with FP 10 running on Vista under IE 8. Last night’s cure was
not working this morning and I have had to re-install version 9.159 (as
Administrator this time) in order to get it to work with Xerte and the BEEB. I know
there are problems with Adobe software on my machine (DELL XPS M1730), but
Adobe have spent over four hours trying to resolve them without success, so I
guess I’m stuck with them. The swfobject.js blogs are full of complaints.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

of the import methods suggested work. I had to replace the complete header to
stop the test failing but then I got a load of errors which were related to the
“root_file_path” being unfindable. I then tried commenting out the relevant
‘else’ lines in import.php but although the little green bar went
across to show it was being uploaded. I couldn’t find the files anwhere.
In the end I created some stubs and then deleted the preview.xml, and replaced
the media folder and data.xml file with the older ones. That seems to have
worked. However I’ld hate to have to document this! <o:p></o:p></span></p>

Import presented us with a problem in that how do we deal with people moving
from one system to another if they have a different version of page templates
installed. As such as added a version number attribute to the page templates
RLT (its version 1). So if you want to mod content look at the nottingham.rlt
in the modules/xerte/parent_templates/Nottingham folder and see how we've set
the version number in that, then copy that to the exported RLO files. Or look
in website_code/php/import and remove the import check.</span><o:p></o:p></p>

A few points...<br>

1. I think the 000730.html list post you refer to is out of date now at<br>
least in terms of page3.php which contains lots of form fields as you say<br>
and these shouldn't be null. That instruction refers to a previous installer<br>
so ignore that instruction to add nulls.<br>
2. Although you've followed a link to download v0.91 beta what you've<br>
actually downloaded is a preview release of v1.0 which contains a bug we are<br>
trying to resolve but Pat is on leave until next week.<br>
3. The install should work in terms of completing the 4 steps but as you say<br>
the Xampp button is redundant and more importantly if once installed you try<br>
to create anything you'll probably get an error. So I would hold fire until<br>
next week and news on this list.<br>

I've started installing Xerte Online Toolkits (v0.91 beta) by following the<br>
instructions at<br>

. However, so far my attempts to complete the installation have been<br>
unsuccessful. I seek for some advice and guidance.<br>

Here's what I've done so far:<br>
<br>
1. Install XAMPP (Success!)<br>
- Download xampp from<br>

href="http://www.apachefriends.org/download.php?xampp-win32-1.6.7-installer.ex">http://www.apachefriends.org/download.php?xampp-win32-1.6.7-installer.ex</a><br>
e;<br>
- Run the installer, choosing to install apache and mysql as services<br>
- Open the xamp control panel and stop apache and mysql<br>
- Goto c:\xampp\apache\conf\httpconf.conf file<br>
- Remove the comment ('#') from the following line: #LoadModule<br>
rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so<br>
- Restart apache and mysql in the xampp control panel<br>
<br>
2. Install Xerte Toolkits (Success!)<br>
- Download and install the Xerte Online Toolkits from<br>
<a href="http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/xerte/downloads/toolkits.zip">http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/xerte/downloads/toolkits.zip</a><br>
- Create a folder called 'toolkits' in c:\xampp\htdocs\<br>
- Extract all the files from the zip to c:\xampp\htdocs\toolkits\<br>

3. Setup Xerte Toolkits (Failed!)<br>
- Navigate in your browser to <a href="http://localhost/toolkits/setup/">http://localhost/toolkits/setup/</a>
<-- Done!<br>
- On the first page click 'next' <-- Which one, there are two Next
buttons;<br>
the "For XAMPP People" isn't is a dead link xampp.php. Followed the
second<br>
Next button pointing to config_setup.php<br>
- On the second page click 'next'. These first two pages contain important<br>
information for any sys admins setting up toolkits on a n production server.<br>
<-- Done!<br>
- On the third page, enter 'localhost' as the host, 'root' as the database<br>
name, leave the password blank, enter 'toolkits' for the database name and<br>
leave the prefix field blank <-- Done!<br>
- On the next page enter 'root' for the database account and leave the<br>
password blank <-- Done!<br>
- On the next page, enter 'NULL' in each field <-- On this page<br>
(page3.php) there are too many fields (surely can't expect to enter NULL to<br>
every single text box)! When I clicked on Submit Query I got many warnings<br>
and Install complete message (see attached file).<br>
- On the next page, click 'next' <-- No such option available.<br>
- On the following page, enter 'NULL' in each field <-- No such option<br>
available.<br>
- On the following page, enter 'NULL' in each field <-- No such option<br>
available.<br>

When I opened the Xerte toolkits page (<a href="http://localhost/toolkits/">http://localhost/toolkits/</a>)
I got the<br>
