<DIV dir=ltr><FONT face=Arial color=#000000 size=2>Xerte can write scores (and all the other SCORM tracking data) to the LMS using the SCORM RTE, just like any other web based content. WebCT allows you to choose to also place these grades in the gradebook when you import a SCORM package that reports them. If you're using the pageTemplates wizard, then at present it doesn't report SCORM grades, but it would be easy enough to add the code to do this. We could add a checkbox to the form for the quiz page to say 'Track result via SCORM' or something, and if checked the result would be sent to the LMS.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV dir=ltr><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV dir=ltr><FONT face=Arial size=2>There are issues though. What about users who simply take the quiz more than once until their score is sufficient? Do we allow each attempt to overwrite the last score, or not? There are issues with both approaches as users can either repeat the quiz until they pass, or claim they didn't mean to start it, and now can't use it, because you can't easily reset it. For these reasons, the template based quizzes are described as formative. They provide a means to test users and provide feedback. Any summative asssessment requires a robust delivery environment and exam conditions, which I don't think WebCT provides with any SCORM content, Xerte or not.</FONT></DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT></DIV>
<DIV dir=ltr> </DIV>
<DIV dir=ltr><FONT face=Arial size=2>It would be possible to work up a quiz template that tracked the score via SCORM. It is very dificult for us to imagine the varied situations that people would want to implement it, and the particular issues important to those users in how the score is tracked, whether the quiz can be taken more than once and so forth.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV dir=ltr><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV dir=ltr><FONT face=Arial size=2>There are probably other tools out there that allow SCORM based quizzes to be easily created if reporting a score is important to you, or you can use Xerte to roll your own to suit your own environment and deal with what you consider to be the issues, and meet your goals.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV dir=ltr><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV dir=ltr><FONT face=Arial size=2>I could add a checkbox to the quiz page in pageTemplates to say 'Track Score via SCORM' and have the last score in that quiz sent to the LMS (overwriting any previous score) if that does it for you? Because each learning object can only track one score, you could only track one quiz per presentation built with pageTemplates.</FONT></DIV>

<P><FONT size=2>I am confused about Xerte and Scorm quiz grades. (I cannot test this since<BR>our WebCT is broken for now.) Can Xerte put quiz scores in the LMS<BR>gradebook? In my wizard, the quiz is described as "formative," which<BR>means no grading as such. But isn't reporting grades part of the Scorm<BR>standard?<BR><BR>>From messages here I get the impression that it CAN be done, only you<BR>need to know the code. Any wizards for quizzes with reporting in the works?<BR><BR>Thanks.<BR>_______________________________________________<BR>Xerte mailing list<BR>Xerte@lists.nottingham.ac.uk<BR><A href="http://lists.nottingham.ac.uk/mailman/listinfo/xerte">http://lists.nottingham.ac.uk/mailman/listinfo/xerte</A><BR></FONT></P></DIV></BODY></HTML>
