You'll have to use Ron's way of doing this at the moment but I'll add this to our list of things we'd like to do in the future - I think an option to add a transcript for embedded videos added via wysiwyg editor would be pretty useful

Yes, streamed video is the way to go no doubt.

It's just occurred to me however that I can't embed a video (from YouTube or wherever) into a 'Video' page - which means I won't have the nice Transcript button available for users - so I'll have to use a different page type...
Is there a way to show an embedded video and have the transcript available at the click of a button on the same page? The Navigator page types only show one tab at a time so users will only be able to see either the video OR the transcript, rather than both at once. Is 'Transcript' available as an Additional Property on any page type where I can embed a video?

Thanks

yourinstalladdress/version.txt might show version and revision number but depends on what code was used during installation.

I suspect the problem is memory_limit or tmp directory limit rather than the Xerte revision.

Embedding from a streaming server is definitely the way to go for all sorts of reasons.

Obviously if you change to embed code the previous videos will still be part of the project folder and attempted export unless you remove via media & quota.

Thanks, Ron.
Yes, directly uploaded video is the reason behind large file size.
We are using 3.1 I think. How can I check?
I'll try embedding the videos from a streaming server to see if it helps.

That's large export sizes and I'm guessing due to directly uploaded video? You should really embed video from a streaming server rather than uploading directly to Xerte especially if users might access via mobile or low bandwith.

What version are you using?

There was an issue with much earlier versions where the php memory_limit could have a direct impact on larger exports and resulted in files being created in the project folder called example_zipper_xyz.zip and then subsequent attempts at export included these temp files to export as well so basically increased the problem. However that was much earlier Xerte code and long since been changed.

Others have reported problems with large exports due to tmp directory limits. Search the community site forums for "0 byte zip export" or this link might work:
http://xerte.org.uk/index.php?option=com_kunena&view=topic&catid=14&id=967&Itemid=759&limitstart=12&lang=en#3227<http://uidappmx01.nottingham.ac.uk:32224/?MTc1ZjAzNWY1MDQxMDc1YzE9NTdEOTJBN0VfMjQ0NDVfMjAyNDJfMSYmMTVmNDEwZTA2MTMwOTQ1PTEyMzMmJnVybD1odHRwJTNBJTJGJTJGeGVydGUlMkVvcmclMkV1ayUyRmluZGV4JTJFcGhwJTNGb3B0aW9uJTNEY29tJTVGa3VuZW5hJTI2YW1wJTNCdmlldyUzRHRvcGljJTI2YW1wJTNCY2F0aWQlM0QxNCUyNmFtcCUzQmlkJTNEOTY3JTI2YW1wJTNCSXRlbWlkJTNENzU5JTI2YW1wJTNCbGltaXRzdGFydCUzRDEyJTI2YW1wJTNCbGFuZyUzRGVuJTIzMzIyNw==>

It might also be worth checking via the projects properties and media & quota tab - if there is unused media you can delete from there then try export again but obviously it will depend on what is limiting the export and what that limit is.

Yes, I've published before attempting to export.

I'm unable to export the LO (719MB) I exported earlier today. I've also made copies of the LO and made some adjustments and am unable to export the copies either.

It may have something to do with the size? - I can export an LO which has only 2.3MB and another with 96MB but not the ones which are 500 to 700MB

Is this a new LO or different to the one you exported earlier? Did you publish before exporting?

When I export an LO the zip files contain 0 bytes. It worked okay earlier today but now doesn't. I've tried different browsers and different types of export (deployment, SCORM etc.) but the same result.

Any ideas why?
