I have attached it as an excel spreadsheet. Please note that we currently only have one account set up at the moment as it is in testing, though we are looking to add a couple of local accounts prior to LDAP integration, all being well. (I mention this as there are some comments of areas that I cannot currently test). Feel free to share, use, amend as you see fit. If it's useful for anything then great. If for some reason the attachment doesn't go to the mailing list and anyone would like a copy then please email me off list and I'll send it to you. Can't tell because can't access your link but if just the page type try https://xerte.lesoco.ac.uk/play.php?template_id=115 &engine=flash does that work? I have included an example of this - is this a known problem? https://xerte.lesoco.ac.uk/play.php?template_id=115 - this is on the seventh page titled 'What to include - each section in detail'. I was reinstalling Xerte but was unable to get it to work correctly. After reading this post I realized it was caused by the link in the site_details table. By default it says http://.... there where it should read https://... Everything is working now perfectly. Thanks. Regarding the question of how to apply an SSL-certificate to an apache server, you could use the following link as a starting point http://www.alphassl.com/support/install-ssl/apache.html You could also search on the internet for https forwarding. A starting point could be https://www.sslshopper.com/apache-redirect-http-to-https.html Best regards, John Bijnens On 19/02/2015 9:59, Ron Mitchell wrote: > > Hi > > Assuming you mean just the xerte aspect of this rather than configuring Apache etc just change the current http address via the xerte management page or > direct in the site_details table. > > If you've had lots of use with sharing of LO's etc you might want to ensure that those http links still work rather than users having to update them e.g. > perhaps a mod_rewrite rule. > > HTH > > Ron > > *From:*xerte-bounces at lists.nottingham.ac.uk [mailto:xerte-bounces at lists.nottingham.ac.uk] *On Behalf Of *Gregory Court-Smith > *Sent:* 19 February 2015 08:51 > *To:* 'xerte at lists.nottingham.ac.uk' > *Subject:* [Xerte] Xerte - applying a secure certificate on Linux server > > Hello, can anyone offer some advice on the following please? > > We have purchased a secure certificate ? how do we go about changing the address to https please? > > This currently exists on a Linux server > > Thanks! > > Greg > > ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- > > This email and its attachments may be privileged and confidential and is solely for the individual or entity intended as authorised recipient. In theory it's all quite straightforward. Once you get the new server up and running on its own you should be able to change the database to point to the old one, and copy in the user-files folder. Well, the database will remain intact. The user files folder should just copy over. In theory it's all quite straightforward. Once you get the new server up and running on its own you should be able to change the database to point to the old one, and copy in the user-files folder. I think? -----Original Message----- From: xerte-bounces at lists.nottingham.ac.uk [mailto:xerte-bounces at lists.nottingham.ac.uk] On Behalf Of Adam Read Sent: 25 February 2015 10:04 To: xerte at lists.nottingham.ac.uk Subject: [Xerte] Database and USERFILES copy? In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: <003d01d050e6$00745af0$015d10d0$@co.uk> Personally I'd recommend the following... 1. Copy the entire directory including all files and folders to the new server 2. Likewise copy the database to the new server 3. Edit the details in database.php so that it can access the new database location 4. Edit site_details in the database and change the relevant details e.g. file paths if changed 5. Change the URL in site_details if using a new address or edit your local hosts file to test the existing sub domain via the new IP 6. If all is fine change the DNS settings to point to the new server and test existing links etc 7. Once all is well set about upgrading the now working new install if it's an older revision of 2.1 Have done this numerous times!
