It's easy to link to Xerte resources on their URLs from any LMS I think. We have LTI for Moodle, but because Moodle's LTI implementation is so ugly, we find it much better to just copy and paste the URLs and link to them. As Pat said, there is LTI in Xerte, but no Bb building block (no reason why someone shouldn?t make one though) > > Do you really need it? It?s easy to link to Xerte resources on their URLs from any LMS I think. We have LTI for Moodle, but because Moodle?s LTI implementation is so ugly, we find it much better to just copy and paste the URLs and link to them. > > Xerte doesn?t need to be on the Bb server, but could be I suppose, if you had to. Message-ID: Good morning everybody. This is just you know that I've posted a blog article on the "Xerte Sandpit - where to next?" at http://blog.jisctechdis.ac.uk/?p=1900 As you are aware by now the Sandpit is having to close as a result of the Jisc restructure. The article looks at alternatives for those who * still need to create some learning resources in order to persuade IT teams to install or * are ready to move beyond the sandpit but don't know which of the alternatives is the best for them. There are still some really nice resources that people have made on the sandpit. Please forgive me for nagging but you are very strongly advised to export these before the end of November. The recommended way to do this is shown on the attached screenshot. The stages are: 1. open up the Xerte workspace 2. click on the learning object you wish to export 3. click the properties button for that learning object 4. click the export tab in the project properties dialogue 5. click on the Get Archive Zip button and save the file in an appropriate place on your computer/network. Once you have the Archive file you can use it with learners - even if you don't have a Xerte installation in your organisation. Unzip the zip file by right clicking over it and choosing the option to extract it to a folder (see unzip1.jpeg attached) Once the folder has been created by your unzip tool browse to it and look for the index file (index.htm) - double-clicking on this should bring up your learning object - see unzip 2.jpg (attached). So long as the entire folder is on one of your network drives and you can put a direct hyperlink to the index.htm file you can use the learning object. If at some future date you have your own Xerte installation you can import the zip file (see import.jpg) by clicking on the workspace folder, clicking on the properties button then clicking on the Import tab from the Properties panel and browsing to the zip file you want to import. Hope that is useful. Happy exporting! URL: From brsmith at akamai.com Sat Nov 29 13:33:45 2014 From: brsmith at akamai.com (Smith, Bradley) Date: Sat, 29 Nov 2014 13:33:45 +0000 Subject: [Xerte] Grades via LTI? Message-ID: I found it pleasantly simple to get my Xerte content embedded into Moodle using LTI. It seems to me that this would be preferable to uploading a SCORM zip, since now all I'd need to do to push out a revision to an LO would be to click Publish instead of having to export it from Xerte and then re-upload it to the Moodle. However, I'm wondering about reporting grades from Xerte to Moodle. When I add an LO from Xerte, Moodle adds it to the course grade book, suggesting that it should be gradable, and I've seen some talk online (mostly about other LTI tools) that suggests it's possible to report grades this way, but nothing that explains what I need to do. Any help? -Brad -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:
