If you google 'installing xerte', the top result is a pdf called 'Xerte Online Toolkits - Installation Guide'. It's also included in the download zip.

I have just spent the last 35 minutes trying to find out what is required to get xerte installed and working on a server side implementation, but can find no useful information.
