[Xerte] FAQ: upgrade and migrate from XOT 1.x to 2.x

This is almost certainly a FAQ, but I've only just rejoined this list after two years so please forgive my ignorance. I've been asked to find out if there's an "upgrade script" from Xerte Toolkits 1.x to 2.x, such that users and learning objects from the 1.x installation would be moved to 2.x. if not, what are the steps that need to be carried out manually by the XOT administrator?

The context is an institutional installation of XOT 1 which has some 60 users and a load of learning objects, and which the admin wants to upgrade to 2 toot sweet without losing users and/or LOs which would cause much wailing and gnashing of teeth. If there were a script that could be run that would be very handy, otherwise manual instructions would be fine if he could be pointed to relevant bits of the fine manual.

I've had a search for "upgrade" on the Xerte Community site<http://xerte.org.uk/> but got only 2 results, neither relevant. I've had a look on the Xerte documentation on the Nottingham site<https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/xerte/documentation.aspx> but couldn't see anything. The Xerte Discussion list<http://lists.nottingham.ac.uk/mailman/listinfo/xerte> site has archives, but no search facility. I even tried a Famous Search Engine [TM] for "xerte upgrade" and got a few hits, of which this PDF at Lodz<http://cmf.p.lodz.pl/lab/documentation/guide_to_upgrading_an_existing_installation.pdf> on upgrading was useful, essentially saying that everything needed to be backed up before upgrading.

TIA

Fred
