Ok, well first you would add the Accordian Navigator page type. I added an extra nested page type as the first one so that the menu would all be collapsed and I would have a place for instructions...

Then in each subpage you simply give it a title for that section and then below type a line for each sub section...

Page A
Page B
Page C

Then if you select the text Page A (highlight it) and right click and select Page Link you can wire it up to a particular page... just be careful not to change the code which is produced.

Repeat for each page. Obviously it's easier to do this at the end once all your content pages are all created

If you are adventurous you can use HTML markup to create ordered (bulleted)or unordered (numbered) lists by wrapping your pages like this

<ul>
<li>Page A</li>
<li>Page B</li>
<li>Page C</li>
</ul>

You should still only hightlight the Page A part and not the whole line <li>Page A</li> before adding the Page Link

You can change ul to ol (in both places) above to get an unordered list...

Hi John,

Thank you, can see second menu. How do you go about changing menu to that format (second menu on Page 2)? Thank you.

Hi John,

When I open that link, I get the same menu as the first link you showed me with the accordion format and buttons (have attached printscreen shots) and not sure how to view the bulleted version.

I would be really grateful if you could help me to create this type of menu or point me in the direction of a tutorial. Thank you.

Hi John,

Thank you for your email. Unfortunately when I click on the link http://xerte.smitcher.com/preview.php?template_id=6 it comes up with 'Sorry you cannot access this resource'. But from what you say a bulleted list with subsections that can be revealed when click on heading, would be fine.

Hi Kathryn,

No, i've just used 3x3 for convenience - the content of each of the Accordian views is just simple HTML so you can have as many as you want, Buttons like I have are harder to do by you could simply create a bulleted (or plain text) list within each subsection of the names of the other pages and then right click on.. you can even mix them with other styles using basic HTML

Try refreshing the LO at http://xerte.smitcher.com/preview.php?template_id=6 and checking out the second menu which is MUCH easier to recreate if you have limited HTML markup skills

Hi John,

That is exactly what I had in mind, thank you. Would it matter if some headings, have different numbers of subheadings?

If you could talk me through how to do this or email me some instructions, whatever best for you, that would be very helpful.

Thank you.

Hi Kathryn,

AFAIK, unfortunately the standard menu would not support that type of functionality.
You would need to build a custom interface. (and take into account that the HTML5 version would also need to be customized).

There may be a way to jigger the Accordion style menu.
Take a look at that.

Dave

I would like to know if there was a way to display the main headings on the contents page that could be further clicked to reveal associated subheadings, please see attached for further clarification. I have tried to use multiple perspectives but have been limited as can only upload videos as flv or wmv file types, so am using YouTube to display videos. I have also considered tabbed navigator, but as far as I am aware that only allows one type of media to be uploaded and my e-tutorial covers multiple media types under on heading.
