The real trick to this is to not show the whole screen for the whole time but to use a tool or method that allows zooming in to relevant areas either while recording or during post production. My favourite is Camtasia Studio http://www.techsmith.com/camtasia.html but for quick stuff you can also use a pro account on screencast-o-matic $15/yr which also allows zooming and annotation http://www.screencast-o-matic.com/watch/cljQ3m7Ih

I'm not sure, but might start some experiments on the basis of trying to find a resolution that would divide nicely into the resolution I want for the final video, i.e. 1024 pixels will divide by 2 to give a 512px wide film, so if you desktop is 1600 x 1200, does it look good if the captures are scaled down to 400 x 300?

Hi

Some guidance and suggestions please.

When recording a video showing actions on a PC/Laptop desktop, what is the best resolution to use for the desktop so that the resulting video is clear and of a size to fit into an Xerte page. What is the maximum size of a video clip and what settings are optimal. Ones I have seen on for example youtube always appear to be blurred/fuzzy and difficult to read.
