I haven't used Latex, so I don't know if you can do this, but one of the attributes of an image is the alternate text (alt) attribute. It's intention is for non-visual screen readers, although it is often used for tooltips (which is actually what the title attribute is for). If there is a way to set the alt attribute for the Latex image, see if that will work with the < character. It should resolve your accessibility issue.

I tried Latex and it worked, but one of the requisites of the LO i'm doing is that it's fully accessible. I tested it and it doesn't seem to be, it creates an image...
Dave said something about the text area type and I was wondering: Do you think it's possible to create a model based on slideshow and change the type of the text area?

I'm using XOT 1.8
and i'm trying to display texts like: n < 20

What version of xot are you using?

Give us an example of what you are trying to display?

I'm using Xerte Online Toolkit and I'm using the slideshow template

Hmm.

In Xerte desktop if I put

1 < 2

it appears correctly.

Where exactly are you entering the text?

Dave

Yes, it is, but it recognizes it as a function tag and the rest of the text disappears.

If I put: 1 < 2
It appears: 1
It misses all the text after the symbol.
I don't know how to do this because i'm using Xerte Online Toolkits

I've never used the slideshow page (I've only used Desktop Xerte). What happens if you just try <?

Another thing that might work is to create a variable in a script icon, then embedding that variable in the text icon:

script icon:

lessThan = "<";

text icon:

{"if (1 " + lessThan + " 2) echo 'The universe is in order'; "}

Using curly braces in a text icon makes it an expression.

I realized that in Plain Text page inserting the ASCII code works, but I'm writing it in a Slideshow page

Hi,

I'm describing an equation and I'm having some trouble when trying use the symbol < as an text, not a tag.

I already used the ASCII code but still not working.

Does anyone have a clue?

Thanks!
