Give it an onRelease handler to an empty function, and turn the pointy hand cursor off (sorry, that might have been the crux)

I've added a drawn object with a fill at the lowest level of the "on top" icons, but that doesn't stop the click through.

Fill the movieclips on top with a transparent fill, that will stop the clicks passing through,

I have a perpetual button that activates a help sequence.
It is only available on the relevant page off root.

I have figured out how to make the help sequence appear on top no matter where it is invoked from, but the buttons and hotspots of the page underneath can still be triggered, even though they are not visible.

The hotspots I get, but the buttons?
I can deactivate things, as the user can cal it from anywhere among 35 other pages of content.
Any way out?
