You should be able to do this without code. Add a Hotspot interaction and position the hotspot over the faux hyperlink. Add your second text element and graphic either to the response and set erase to 0, or make sure it's not perpetual and add the text element and graphic after the hotspot interaction.

Folks,

This is for the standalone version, not XOT. Could anyone give me a code example of attaching a click event to a line of text? What I want to do is simulate a hyperlink click but instead of opening that in a browser it will open up a second text element and a graphic with xerte on the same page.
