[Xerte] Re: sharing LOs via link from Project tab

The type and format of link you have shared is correct in as far as I assume
you've made your LO public and shared the play.php rather than preview.php
link but I'm afraid it looks like you are using an installation installed on
your own computer rather than a public or even internal facing web server.
Wherever you see a link containing http://localhost you can generally assume
it's a local installation for development rather than a shared web server.

You have a number of options:

1. Export your LO (info in the same guides) extract the zip and share it
online or via a network drive or even usb/CD.
2. Export and import into a vle course and share it that way
3. Talk to your IT team about getting XOT installed on a shared web server
and then import your LO and share via that installation - this should be
your longer term goal anyway.

I have finally managed to make my first little LO on Xerte Online Toolkit
(and very nice it is too if I say so myself) and would like to be able to
share it with others as a link, not within a VLE. I looked on JISC Tech Dis
website and found the helpsheet 'editing, managing and sharing learning
objects (Part 1) and followed instructions as best I can. Step 19 shows how
to get a link via Project tab. I have copied the link - works fine on my
computer but not on a couple of colleagues I've tested it out on

This is the link provided

http://localhost/xertetoolkits/play.php?template_id=10
