Hello Pat,

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, as a quick fix this does not seem to have worked. I downloaded the Xerte toolkit, extracted the files and in my learning object, I replaced the XMLEngine.swf and MainPreloader.swf, and added the language folder; but the formulae is still not displaying. Would it help if I installed Xerte 3.0 and imported and exported the learning object from this?

Thanks, Alex.

Hi

I also have problems with a Xerte object I created last year, using latex to display math formulae. The formulae are no longer displaying.

I created the object in the sandpit, export it and import the compressed file into Blackboard. Now the formulae are not visible in the Xerte object in Blackboard. Having re-imported it into the sandpit, the formulae are not displaying in the sandpit either.

If there is a way to display the latex formulae in the Xerte object, could you please let me know.

Many thanks, Alex Ott.

You need the latest preloader as well, and the languages folder.

Hi Julian
I just tested the xmlengine.swf you attached and t does indeed display the latex but it's clearly also got some of the language developments in it and so if that's all that's update in a toolkits install there are the undefined lists in each of the interface menu items.
Is there an engine which has the new latex code but not the language code?

Yes, you need to update your XMLEngine.swf. It's attached.

Then you can use latex and do <tex src="30cm^2">

Hi

I posted this message below, back in December, and I know there were some problems that others had, has this been resolved?

Hi

Is it possible to insert maths equations in Xerte, I want to display something similar to below but the 30cm2 displays as 30cm2

We work out the area of the grey rectangle by multiplying 3 by 10 which = 30 cm this is written as 30cm2 or 30 cm Squared

Thanks
Shirley

Hello,

The Link for the latex generator has changed.

Try downloading Xerte from www.nottingham.ac.uk/xerte (possibly the
desktop) and replacing XmlEngine.swf in your object with one from the
download.

Hi Julian, here is the reply from our developer James:

Well - thing is, I could go on the forum and say "we have some problems
with our xerte install" but then I'd have to refer back to you to know
what they are! I think it is best you try to describe the problem you
are having and I will implement any suggested solution until I get the
OK to devote time to learning how it works and what it does.

With that in mind, here is the main problem we are having:

On the embed YouTube video page in XOT when it plays back we get a blank
white rectangle with a "player loading" message. I have attached a
screenshot to show this.

cheers

Julian
