[Xerte] Re: Google Map page

I think Mapstraction will replace the google map page, it looks pretty good. Finding lat and lng is not that straightforward though: I might make some sort of visual tool – a mini map – that users can use to set the initial lat lng and zoom, but not sure how I can easily do that. Any ideas? The wizard can take a ‘component’ type of data, where a loaded flash movie can be used to populate the xml, but the trouble is that all the mapping APIs are defunct for AS2.

Hi Thomas
Thanks for your copy but as Julian has said the problem Jonathan has reported is due to changes in the links generated by Google. If you put one of Jonathan's links in your LO you'll get the same problem e.g.
This is a Stoke on Trent map
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=ST3,+United+Kingdom&hl=en&sll=52.92778,-1.129449&sspn=0.07699,0.128574&oq=st3&hnear=ST3,+United+Kingdom&t=m&z=12

Put that in and select roadmap as the type and you'll see a Nottingham map in the Xerte Lo and the correct map when you visit on Google.

Sounds like the Mapstraction might become a more reliable solution if there's an easy way to get to the correct values to add to the LO.

Cheers
Ron

Hi everyone,

Here is my LO, zipped up.

I used the latest build from the SVN, downloaded on Wednesday am, I think, after Ron recommended this .

Enjoy!

Kindest Regards,

Thomas
