That's not overly different to a Linux-esque environment. Except for stuff being in /applications/XAMPP/htdocs instead of wherever.

Note, Apache may not be running on port 80 on OSX from an XAMP install.... as you may have already installed the Apple dev tools and Apple's default Apache etc etc
