The floater was made for a custom piece. Not sure we had templates in those days. You can put controls across the top, or across the bottom, or in both, just leave 514px for template content. Subject: [Xerte] Re: Toolkits - Location of XMLEngine? So my bg can fill the 800/600, but that strip across the top is no mans land for content, the controls should go there? I'm curious because I've seen a page with a "floating" nav control.Doesn't make much sense to float if none of the templates use that area up top. From: Julian.Tenney at nottingham.ac.uk

Subject: [Xerte] Re: Toolkits - Location of XMLEngine?> still trying to get a handle on the stage size thing. The models assume 800 x 514 as the ‘stage’ area, i.e. the area between any top row controls and any bottom row controls. Stick with that for an easy life. From: xerte-bounces at lists.nottingham.ac.uk [mailto:xerte-bounces at lists.nottingham.ac.uk] On Behalf Of Dave Burnett

Subject: [Xerte] Re: Toolkits - Location of XMLEngine? At this point (in Nottingham.rlt) I've just set visuals to 0 and added a DIS and INT with a couple buttons, immediately below the existing DIS line <DIS initObject="{_alpha:15}" etc //existing <my dis><my int> <SCR name="setup"> etc //existing Seems to display and work fine, still trying to get a handle on the stage size thing. Subject: [Xerte] Re: Toolkits - Location of XMLEngine? You’re trying to do a customisation? I think the setup scripts mostly pre-process the xml, load the models, pre-parse some stuff. I don’t think it does much with the interface. Keep your stage area 514 px high: that’s the size hardcoded into a lot of the templates. Use the 560 example to test, ‘cos it’s got pretty much all the templates in it: you can fish the xml out of your cache. What I might do is send in your own value for visuals and handle that as a separate case if you want to do anything funky in the engine. Or use the swf parameter on the interface icon t load a custom swf: the only dragon down that road is positioning the stage to the right place, but that’s easy in code in the swf. This is how it was intended to be done. From: xerte-bounces at lists.nottingham.ac.uk [mailto:xerte-bounces at lists.nottingham.ac.uk] On Behalf Of Dave Burnett

OK.I obviously don't want to rip out the existing pane content in the .rlt as there are setup scripts in there. From: Julian.Tenney at nottingham.ac.uk

Subject: [Xerte] Re: Toolkits - Location of XMLEngine? It stops the INTERFACE class drawing the interface and building the controls, positioning the stage. INTERFACE is a subclass of FRAMEWORK, so it basically gives you a plain framework to start with From: xerte-bounces at lists.nottingham.ac.uk [mailto:xerte-bounces at lists.nottingham.ac.uk] On Behalf Of Dave Burnett

Subject: [Xerte] Re: Toolkits - Location of XMLEngine? You shouldn’t need a path: just image.jpg if you want to reference things in the root: play.php is in the root and it loads the engine from the root.
