The feeds work fine in outlook.

I thought they used to work in all the browsers..?

Do they work if you ask the browser to subscribe to them?

Subject: [Xerte] problem with syndicate.php with XOT 1.6 and previous versions?

Hi
thought it would be better to send this as a separate topic/thread rather than confuse the separate thread about problems with MainPreloader.swf...

Just been testing the same clean installs as well as a previous beta install and it seems syndicate.php doesn't work on either. However there seems to be different results with different browsers and XOT versions...

With the latest versions and versions dating back to at least March if I visit http://localhost/xerte16/syndicate.php using IE I get a blank browser window and via Firefox I get the feed heading but no projects e.g.

Xerte Online Toolkits RSS Feed
This RSS feed contains a list of all the syndicated content from the Xerte Online Toolkits installation at Put your institution's name here

However If I visit with Safari I get the heading and projects as expected so all works fine with Safari.

In Firefox I get the above info but I don't see any project links even though I've made a couple of test projects part of the export and syndication feeds. In IE I just get a blank browser window and in Safari it works as it should. http://localhost/xerte16/rss.php works fine in all browsers and Fiddler doesn't show any errors with http://localhost/xerte16/syndicate.php in IE or Firefox.

I've tried some previous installs dating back to March and syndicate.php doesn't seem to work on them either and what prompted testing this was a message from Susan Parnell on the xerteforteachers list where Bath's installation doesn't display syndicate.php either. This may be specific to my laptop but I get the same results with the bath link e.g. http://multimedia.bath.ac.uk/xerte/syndicate.php works in Safari but not IE or Firefox with the latter only showing the feed heading.

However I have older installs e.g. http://xerte5.techdis.palepurple.co.uk/syndication/ which works in all browsers.

So would be good if others could confirm as follows:

1. does http://multimedia.bath.ac.uk/xerte/syndicate.php work for you in all browsers and if not what works and what doesn't?
2. Likewise does http://xerte5.techdis.palepurple.co.uk/syndication/ work in all browsers.
3. Where does the problem lie?

HTH
Ron
