There are some already some Japanese users. Someone translated the whole application into Japanese a while ago. I see a lot of visitors to the Xerte 3 svn from Japan as well.

How are you converting to flv?

! Well thanks for the list. I surely see a way to contribute that means more than just the making of tea. Am already scheduled to talk about a Xerte inspired e-learning project I am working on with Warwick with the British Council in Japan - will be presenting on my Xerte work to the university wide e-learning folk - hence my questions about some functionality previously. A start, anyway. As I work on the project will let you know any more kinks I noticed and any ideas I have for development. One issue right now is screen capture video and resolution in flv. Importing the converted flv file (from MP4) into Xerte means a lot of quality is lost - it's especially noticeable when importing a screenflow powerpoint presentation - quality is lost when the magnifying function is clicked on to increase viewing size - the default video size is fine - but it would be nice to have bigger video screen size options which maintain a suitable resolution if I want to show more complex, professional powerpoints as well as show my desktop for instructional purposes.

You don't have to code to contribute.

There's loads of docs to write, tests to be done, tutorials to record, blogs to write, ideas to contribute, training to design and deliver, the wiki to maintain, examples to produce, work to share, thoughts to kick about, conference papers to write, awards to enter, best practice to identify...

'Andrew - you too can contribute to the project :-) '

I would if I could contribute but .... I have yet to learn how to code - even the little discussion on my request pertaining to 'categories' had my head spinning. Sooo, give me a few years to catch up - meanwhile, name your price! I could do free cups of tea if that would suffice... I doubt it would, though. More seriously, I will certainly contribute to xpert and as I use Xerte I will certainly be offering suggestions for development. It's a very valuable tool indeed. So, thank you Xerte developers.

Just letting people know about Xerte and Xpert is as valid a contribution as anything else. If you need any pointers just email the list.

Cheers

Pat (just made his own cup of tea - can you send me a cost centre?)
