This zipped up LO has the wmv in and not flv - is that what you need?

Hi Julie

That makes it tricky to help. Could you record one of the smartboard videos in exactly the same way (minus the sensitive content) and then make the wmv file available to us?

I suspect you'll need to pick an appropriate resolution for the job. This is always tricky when making full-screen recordings which is why I rarely do them anymore, instead using screenr.com to capture a screen segment.

Hi
I would do but due to the nature of the content unfortunately I can't. The LO is for tutors marking online registers so has lots of learner information on the screen. Here is a screenshot of the quality (or lack of!!) that appears on the IWB

[cid:image003.png at 01CBCF60.7C2EC100]

The above example is typical of all the flv files throughout the LO and demonstrates the exact distorted/blurred display so I hope this helps? I can add a Captivate file OK but unfortunately the narration tool is not working on the network so I am going round in circles right now.
Thank you
Julie

Hi Julie

Can you show us an example by sharing a learning object? It is difficult to work out what the problem might be without seeing it in the flesh.

I'm not familiar with CuCusoft, but I use an excellent free piece of software called "Format Factory" to convert videos between formats.

Adam

Subject: [Xerte] flv files - media/video page

Hello

I have managed to learn (very quickly!!) how to use Xerte, (mainly thanks to Rons videos) but I do have some questions on video and would be VERY grateful if someone could assist.

We use Smartboards to record application screen captures with narration at the same time. These are .wmv files and then we have to convert those through CuCusoft software to a flv format. When I add a media/video page in my learning object it either takes over the screen and gets in the way of navigation, or adding the default video size window completely distorts it? I have tried various resolutions of the same video and changed the video size in various increments on the media/video page but to no avail.

Sorry this is longwinded but I may just be missing something really simple now - wood for trees etc!!

We have a whole college development day the week after next and really need the videos to work and at least be legible on a smartboard. The first screen is ok but as soon as there is mouse movement or narration it's like it cannot refresh quick enough? Please help!!

Many thanks
Julie
