If you can change the browser settings on your network, then for the INTRANET zone, you can safely set Initialise and Script AX Controls not marked as safe for scripting' to enable: this enables controls for pages on your domain, which you are in charge of. If you mostly serve xerte content to users on your own network / domain, this is the relevant setting.

For the INTERNET zone, you could set it to prompt, although that comes with a note of caution, as you don't know what users will agree to when prompted, so that's not necessarily a recommendation... it will make it easier for Xerte to run the TTS engine, but it also makes your computers more vulnerable. If users are hitting your content from home / elsewhere, then they will need to set their browser setting to prompt for the INTERNET zone to get TTS to work. They should only accept prompts when loading Xerte content - not from anywhere else presumably. If they don't need TTS, they can leave the settings alone.

No, it's the one for "Initialise and script active x controls not marked as safe for scripting" to prompt, at least for the TTS - were you thinking of something else?

Unsigned ones should be left alone, I think...?

The main one is changing unsigned activex controls to prompt rather than disabled. Alistair and I were talking about guidnace on this recently and Alistair did a screenshot of his long scrolling list of settings - see attached.

Hi all

I have recently rolled out our institutional version of Xerte and remember Ron mentioning that you need to make some active x changes in your institutions browsers. Can somebody please clarify what these changes are as I remember that they make a significant improvement to the end users Xerte experience.

Thanks
Andy
