Just to confirm

This is an issue with short filenames.
In Win7 64 bit (and also in Vista 64 bit) both "C:\Program Files\" and 
"C:\Program Files (x86)\" exist. The short file name of the first is:

C:\Progra~1

and of the second:

C:\Progra~2

Just install  Xerte3 in a 8.3 directory, will solve all problems.
