Give a display object an ID.


mydispiconid.setText(myretrievedvar);


Just make sure the display is "onscreen" when you attempt to set the text value.
e.g. you can't perform operations on icons that:  are not within current scope/are not instantiated.

Woah!!  So it does here now!  Strange it didn't before....  Thanks for testing Dave.
I haven't worked with de-bug before.  How do I now get that info to show up in a Xerte page or another SWF?
