[Xerte] Re: Youtube Issues: XOT

My colleague raised this very problem with me just a few days ago but I
haven't had time to look into it in detail.

We have a couple of Toolkit installs (both of them internal only) and
the clips will not show. To be honest we put it down to network changes
in-house..
The thing is... YouTube clips had been working just fine a few weeks
ago.

My other colleague has a toolkits install hosted on his own
external-facing server - he can embed YouTube clips and they play.

If we export one of his objects and import it onto our internal servers
it does not play.

Now here's the odd bit

If we then re-export the learning object back from our internal server
to Tim's external server it stops playing on his server.

The only other thing to add is that our servers are running Linux. We
are using the updated YouTube.rlm file as well

I'm only coming to this second or third hand btw - I haven't looked at
it myself - only reporting what my colleagues have found (and now I see
that Tom has emailed something I'll take a look)

As an addendum - I think we thought that as google couldn't ping the URL
- it might not let the video play.

If someone else could test this on an intranet version of toolkits
that'd be handy.

Cheers

Subject: [Xerte] Youtube Issues: XOT

Hey guys,

I emailed the list some time ago with an issue I was having with
Youtube, having been off for a bit I'm coming back to this and still
having issues.

I'm embedding a Youtube video using the new iframe embed code with the
latest copy of Youtube.rlm as well as Youtube.swf checked out from the
svn today.

The Youtube video simply does not play. Sadly the server I'm working on
isn't externally publicised so I can't link you to the object but the
video is set as Unlisted on Youtube but embedding works with that same
video on a Moodle install that resides on the same server as XOT.

Using Fiddler it appears that the URL used in getvideo is malformed,
exactly how, I don't know. The Embed contains only one ? Yet the URL
being sent to Youtube contains 2 ?'s, thus breaking it. If I manually
change the URL to be correctly formed and paste it into a browser, it
works.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

Manu thanks
Adam
