Hi everybody;

Two things to draw to your attention..

Reminder

this is just a reminder that the last Friday of every month from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. (local London time) there is a 45 minute free online training session available at http://www.instantpresenter.com/techdisonline104.

The remaining topics in the current programme are as follows add links to previous recordings can be found at www.techdis.ac.uk/getxertefriday

Date

Theme

Description of session

24 Sept

Teaching/pedagogy

Xerte in practice.

29 October

Technical

Setting up Xerte to use RSS.

26 November

Teaching/pedagogy

Xerte and mobile devices.

All of the sessions are illustrated by Xerte learning objects on the JISC TechDis sandpit area (www.techdisplayxerte.info) and are often cross-referenced to the teacher focused training materials on www.techdis.ac.uk/getxerte.

Request

1) sample links to learning objects - with the theme of pedagogy and practice in the next Xerte Friday session we would be really grateful to any links to your learning objects that you are happy to make public. Please contact me either onlist - or offlist if you prefer (alistair at techdis.ac.uk).

2) Future sessions - in the true spirit of Christmas, we have decided to give you the day off on the 31st of December so we will not be running Xerte session on that day. We would be grateful however for us suggestions for new topics for 2011. Please bear in mind that the Xerte Friday sessions are generally aimed at teaching rather than technologists audience. Should future sessions look at using Xerte in specific subject areas? In specific sector areas (adult community learning, work based learning, undergraduate, schools etc) or even with specific disabilities (dyslexia, visually impaired, deaf etc)?

Any suggestions will be gratefully received.

Alistair
