If using text to speech and the navigation continues automatically, how would you know which was which?

Probably depends what / how you're using the LO.

I prefer navigation to be in the hands of the user, and control of sounds to be initiated by the user, rather than auto-starting.

Not to play the Alistair card, but won't auto advance be a bit confusing?

Maybe we should add options for

'auto play narration'
'auto navigate on narration complete' to the LO settings?

Both optional properties, then use those to drive the interactivity - that is all we need.

Shall I do that? Easy to do.

Can I get to an export/copy of that to compare your code with mine? I've
tried lot's of variations which work fine locally but don't seem to be
working online. I posted a later message to the one below. I got the
onSoundComplete working but what to autoplay too and it seemed like when
online the code wasn't waiting for the sound to load and autoplay and
somehow triggering the onSoundComplete and auto navigation before the sound
had played.

Cheers
Ron

Don't see the problem with hearing the evehnt
http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/~cczjrt/narration/

Do see the problem with no narration on the first page, will fix that, so to
use the example above got to page 2 then back to one, run the narration, and
it will auto navigate.

I imagine the elm must have a series of events in already. So as dave says,
adding an onsoundcomplete would do it

Thanks Dave that sounds about right will try tomorrow cheers.

Pat - yes it's the narration optional property part of the textGraphics.rlm
have a tweak of that model which autoplays the narration and I want to auto
navigate to next page when narration completes. Have shut down now but
Dave's suggestion sounds like it could work.

Cheers
Ron

Subject: [Xerte] detect when narration has finished playing?

Hi

I'm working on tweaking a XOT model to detect when the narration added has
finished playing and then to navigate to the next page. I'm sure I can get
the navigation bit working but not sure if there is an easy way or existing
way to detect when the narration has finished playing - any suggestions?

Cheers

Ron
