[Xerte] Page Wizards (plus custom interface)

Bala,

Here's the link to the searchable archives. It's
a wonderful resource that I use all the time.

http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/xerte/community.htm

I also find the following link useful to get a
feel for how the page wizards work:
http://www.techdis.ac.uk/development/xerte/tutorials/Menu_of_Page_Types/

This is for the online toolkits but that's what
the page wizards are based on. Doesn't have the
newest pages but it might be helpful to you.

I echo Jonathan's enthusiasm for having access to
the icon structure that the page wizards
create. Case in point: we are using a custom
interface that lives in the top 80 pixels of our
learning objects, so we must move everything each
page wizard creates down 80 pixels. After
struggling through editing several rlm files so
that things would be placed where I thought they
should be, I had a "DUH!" moment. I figured out
that the best way to proceed is to use the wizard
to create the page, then go into the icon
structure and position things where I want them,
and THEN go back and look at the rlm file that is
created in the page's folder. This file can
replace the rlm file in the zipped (just change
the extension from xcp to zip temporarily) wizard
folder that lives in your xerte program files folder.

I'm passing this along in case it saves someone
else the time it's saving me now as I finish
adapting the wizards for use with our UI.

The page wizards are a fantastic resource, Jonathan. Thanks!
m.a.
