Hi Adam
Thanks for the link
I’ve also been playing with Print 2 Flash http://print2flash.com which is provides what looks like a free alternative to FlashPaper
http://print2flash.com/downloadfile.php?file=download/print2flashfreesetup.exe&product=free

and this open source PDF 2 Flash http://www.swftools.org/swftools-2010-02-06-1900.exe

Hi Paul

Welcome to the list!

Regarding PDFs – I don’t think there is a way. We’ve resorted to converting them to Macromedia/Adobe FlashPaper (swf) and then embedding like in this RLO – http://elearning.net.marjon.ac.uk/rlo/play.php?template_id=86 works quite well but the software isn’t free.

I’m sure the more experienced gurus might have another solution.

Adam

Hi
(I’ve been trying to post to list for a while but hopefully this one will work..)
I’d just like to introduce myself to the list, I’m based at University of Liverpool supporting online distance learners for library/ IT support and also act as a learning technologist for the library staff here.
I’ve just installed Xerte toolkits for initial use by staff and expect us to be using this more for the University, we also hope the central IT department will run Xerte on a larger scale.

I have a few small questions about Xerte Toolkits which I was wondering the list might be able to help out:

· There doesn’t seem to be any way to upload/ display PDFs or other files, due to the rationale for using Flash, does anyone know an easy way to enable a basic file upload option or add in a new page wizard for a generic file upload/ display?

· I’ve noticed Xerte has some problems resizing SWFs, such as those made with Ispring or JING when displayed, I’m guessing it’s simply not applying a relative dimension to the Flash object or applying a fixed size appropriate to the ‘screen size’ selected by the user. I was wondering if there are any fixes for this about.. I’ve seen mention of people setting video dimensions but can’t see how this is applied in Toolkits.

We’ll probably be presenting what we do with Xerte Toolkits at a conference in Liverpool in June, so I’ll make sure any demos can go online to share with the list.

thanks

Paul
