[Xerte] Stage size of embedded swf - Xerte 2 Desktop

I thought the mask had to be a MovieClip?

Yes, the mask hides anything off the stage: it's a belt and braces thing
because the developer ought to do it as well,

The mask within the flash file was not a movie clip but just a graphic
with no name. I made it a movie clip, gave it a name and got odd
numbers back. Think I may be addressing it incorrectly and will poke
around some more. Using masks is very new for me both in Flash and in
Xerte.

Why does the Text Flash SWF page template use a mask with the swf? Is
it to mask any offstage elements in the swf that are not meant to be
visible in the LO?

We've asked our flash animation developer to use a mask within the swf
to accomplish this same thing.

Thanks!
ma

The movieclip must have a name - you must be able to address it somehow?

_level0.IFC.blah.yourSWF.mask etc?

Thanks, Julian & Peter.

The mask does not have a name but I do have the source files and will
give it one to test out the theory.

Thanks!

There is only one stage - the loaded .swf's dimensions are all you have.
If you can discover the name of the loaded's swf's mask, you can get the
dimensions from that..?

Hi all,
I can't figure this one out, and can't find anything in the list
archives. Anybody know if this is possible?

I'm trying to get at the stage width and height of a swf loaded onto a
page. I'm using the Text Flash SWF page template with a swf that has
elements hanging off the sides of the stage that we don't see because of
a mask.

Graphic._width returns the width of everything including the elements we
don't see, so when the template places a panel behind it, it's too wide.
Not a big deal to fix by hand but it would be great if I could somehow
get at the swf stage width & height to size the panel automatically.

The stage for the swf is 440 x 158, but graphic._width returns 481.9
which includes the stuff we don't see.

Thanks!
ma
