[Xerte] Issue with <? tag

Ok, 

If tomorrow I grep everything to be long tags, would anyone be up for
checking the site behaves ok on a new install with this in place?

There's no security implication. The issue is just that PHP may try and
intrepret code in an <?xml ...?> declaration - hence short_open_tags are
(i think) being deprecated.
