Compare it to the original google maps page type – that used a Xerte component icon that wrapped the 3rd party flash component we used,

It works locally, yes?

just to go back to the root of this thread:

My toolkits still doesn't load the content of my component icons. Does anybody encounter the same behaviour?

Thanks!

Thanks for everyone’s help. I haven’t found out what the problem is or how to solve it, but have discovered that it works fine from www.nottingham.ac.uk <http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/> rather than ltdev.nottingham.ac.uk.

We’ll have to see what happens on your own servers and take it from there. If you want to test it, all the latest files are in the repository on assembla. You will need to update XMLEngine.swf in the root of your install, and the files in the modules/xerte/parent_templates/Nottingham folder. Get those files from the toolkits09 folder in the svn if you have a server installation of toolkits.

I’ve also updated the Page Templates standalone version in the latest xerte build from the website, so if you are building using the standalone version you can also test it.

Obviously these changes will change the way google map pages work, although existing standalone projects won’t be affected unless you update their files. I think all in all it’s an improvement as authoring the map is much easier than it was.

Thanks,

J

Give this one a whirl for me …

MailScanner has detected a possible fraud attempt from "JavaScript" claiming to be http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/toolkits/play_893 <javascript:pop_up_window(%22play%22,window.name)>

thanks for the info, I replaced all paths.

Have you tried component-icons in toolkits? I now loaded the same .swf file using a graphic icon and it displays fine. If I use the same path in a component icon nothing shows up on toolkits.

You need to distinquish between template path and FileLocation when running in toolkits, as the two locations are different.

FileLocation is the folder where the xml file is; templatePath is the folder where the rlt is.

Locally, the two are the same.

so things are getting better now. My custom interface loads and is displayed in the preview. The only problem is now, that my custom made nodes don't show up properly. E.g. I made a select-and-drag-and-drop-text node which mainly loads an external flash file using a component icon. It shows up fine in the local wizard.
Pre-built nodes (from the nottingham.rlt) show up properly.

You mean to say that everyting works fine until you come to hit preview and then nothing happens? What happens if you click play in the wizard? Does that one work OK?

Hi List,

I created my own template, based on the nottingham template (not the latest version, what a pitty). It works fine in the local Xerte editor. It also works in toolkits, but no preview is shown. By the way: I use my own visuals. Than I did the following to make it toolkits ready:

- added an entry to the table originaltemplatesdetails, mainly with the same settings as the other two entries
- created a new folder in modules - xerte - parent_templates called ICAR
- added some entries to the learningObject of my ICAR.rlt: TargetFolder=ICAR, Description=Description of my template, version =0.9
- copied the content of my local template folder: ICAR.rlt, data.xwd, common, thumbs
- duplicated the Nottingham folder under modules - xerte - templates and renamed it to ICAR
- created a new project based on the ICAR template

So, what did I miss?

How can I debug it?
