[Xerte] Username Field Too Short

That's a good point. The moodle integration may fall foul of this in some
cases too e.g. some accounts may have their email address as their username
and in some case that can be even longer than 50 chars.

The size of the field is 20, so I would suggest matching the max length to
at least that.

The user in question had a username formatted "firstname.lastname", I am not
sure how common that is, but it is conceivable that would go over 20
characters in some instances.

I would be inclined to dump the max length parameter all together unless
there is a good reason for having it, or increase it to a level you know
will not cause a problem, 50 chars for example.

Yes, or course, thanks. What do you suggest the limit shout be?

Hello,

I just modified the username field in Xerte after one of our users could not
log in as his username was over the maximum permitted length.

Strangely the max length was shorter than the display width of the field, I
am not sure if there was a reason for doing this?

If not, perhaps the distributed version of Xerte could be updated with this
change?

Thanks, Jeremy
