[Xerte] Toolkits 1.0 Release

Hi Patrick, yeah the server is outside the institution as it stands.

If there's no way other than the demo to run without LDAP I guess I'll just push the IT blokes to get it sorted.

My hope was to have some Xerte champions using Xerte in college from my server to prove worth to the IT dept so it gets sorted faster as at the moment, new things are somewhat low down on the priority list.

Cheers for your help

Adam

Ok - first off - by hosted server do you mean "hosted outside your institution"? Because that could get nasty.

It is unlikely any webserver would also be the LDAP server, microsoft used to say one service per server, so I would imagine LDAP is elsewhere. Our LDAP server isn´t our webserver. You´ll need PHP LDAP support turned on your webserver though. There will be install instructions for this on www.php.net.

You could stick it on a hosted server, and not tell any one the URL, then use demo.php / text.

You must be running LDAP somewhere in the college. Pat can tell you more, but your network users must log on somehow? If my understanding is correct, you don't have LDAP on the server you install toolkits on. The LDAP service will be provided by another server in your network. You just need to know where it is. Talk to your IT guys.

Julian,

I have a localhost install but was hoping to get it set up on my hosted server so it was accessible from anywhere. As the server is hosted it doesn't have LDAP but does have everything else I need to run Toolkits successfully.

Cheers

Hi guys,

Congratulations first off on the release of Toolkits v1.0 I've been waiting with baited breath for this!

My only problem is I need to install it on a non-LDAP server to demo to the boss, in the setup it says there are instructions in the readme on how to do this yet when I open the readme it's blank.

Any ideas?

Many thanks

Adam Salem
