If there is only a few of you who will use it, you could also
prepopulate the table in the database with some user names and set up
the index.php to look over the names.

It doesn't strictly need to authenticate to work - it just needs
some session variables setting.

The basic AD I used to run had LDAP on as standard.

I'm checking with my server friend on how to find out if LDAP is
working properly / on.

Toolkits just needs a username, so it can start a
session based on it, right Pat?

There are many ways the user name could be validated,
but once the validation has occurred we could easily put some code in
for you to call after the login and start the session. Then it's easy to
hook up whatever login process you want to.

		How does it authenticate?

		Just straight off the AD?

		Hello,

Same authentication as last time, LDAP or a modded
demo.php.

If you have another system than can handle your
authentication then I
could offer advice as to what you could change in
demo.php to merge the
		two.

		Jules,

We have had lots of problems being able to use the
toolkits from our own
server because of having to create our own database to
login users and
also because we don't know anything about ldap and only
a little PHP.

Will this new version let us just slap it onto the
server and use it out
of the box or will anyone installing this version still
need their own
		solution for logging in?

		Cheers mate,

		Paul

		Hi,

An updated beta vesion of Xerte Online Toolkits is
available for
download from the Xerte website. This is an incremental
release,
addressing all of the issues reported so far. Many
thanks to all those
who have commented in one way or another - we're very
grateful for all
		your comments and suggestions.

The release version 1.0 is scheduled for January 29th,
and will be a
complete build suitable for installing in your
production environments.
If you have any ideas or suggestions for functionality
to include in
that release version, now would be great time to let us
know.

		Download Beta 0.9:
		http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/xerte/downloads/toolkits.zip

If you already have 0.8 installed, simply copy these
files over the top
of your existing installation. For new installs, follow
the instructions
		here:

http://lists.nottingham.ac.uk/pipermail/xerte/2008-September/000730.html
		.

The main template now contains 36 page types. A
comprehensive example
		can be found here:
http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/toolkits/play_560.

As an aside, Xerte 2.1 now contains a sample
FlashDevelop project for
creating compiled code libraries for use in your Xerte
projects, bring
all the benefits of object-oriented coding, and the
speed of compiled
code. Have a look in the
\templates\flashDevelopLibraryProject\ folder:
		http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/xerte/downloads/setup.exe.

Finally, welcome to those of you new to the list - there
are no silly
		questions here.

		Regards,

		J
