<div>Hello Ian,<br></div><div><br></div><div>It's good to see the Open University taking an interest in Xerte.</div><div><br></div><div>I remember a few years ago being involved in a Moodle installation. The Open University made significant contributions to Moodle, to the benefit of the whole Moodle community. I am also a keen user of the OU's Compendium software.</div>
<div><br></div><div>Prior to retiring I used desktop Xerte to develop learning objects and business process support materials. At that time it was not easy to have access to the wide variety of page types available to Xerte On-line Toolkits users, if you also wanted access to the full power of the desktop editor. This lead to my developing the "Page Wizards" (made possible by the excellent support and help provided by the Xerte Team).</div>
<div><br></div><div>Since retiring I have remained active in the Xerte community working on the forthcoming release. I have contributed to the preparation of the model and xwd files to support internationalisation and the capability to have a single set of model and xwd files that can be used by both Xerte and XOT. The new "pages" project type achieves something I have been working towards for several years, the ability to have full access to the Xerte desktop editing environment whilst also being able to load into your project any of the pre-built pages, with full access then to see how they work and to modify them if required. With the next release it will be easier to develop a new page in Desktop Xerte and then import it into your XOT installation.</div>
<div><br></div><div>I also contributed some of the new page types that will be available in the next release - The Connector pages and the Inventory and Scenario pages. If you find any accessibility issues with these I will be happy to work with you to correct them.</div>
<div><br></div><div>With the moves to HTML5 it will be interesting to see how things evolve. I am particularly interested in the future of the page development environment.</div><div><br></div><div>So welcome to the fray and happy Xerteing :-)</div>
