Looking at the things we said on the normal list, people are waiting
for 1.8, I don't think Xerte standalone is such an issue, you can
even install two versions if you want to.<br>
<br>
What I really want to do is see whether you can edit an existing LO
with the current Nottingham template. <br>
<br>
I don't really know how big multi-language is compared to HTML5, but
I have certainly a lot of people waiting on it... We have over 350
people using our rudimentary (unmaintainable) Dutch xot translation.
And that's just the people who weren't willing to wait.<br>
<br>
But I do concur, we can't wait indefinitely, and we can't have
people doing to many (big) releases in a short time.<br>
<br>
On the other hand, if you hold off, you end up at some point fixing
issues in the current 1.7 release...<br>

to do with this release? Here’s the thing: in October we
will have some of the HTML5 support and will need to release
it when the Xenith project completes. If we get much closer
to October, we will be saying to users ‘here’s an update’,
cue much hassle for them updating etc, and then less than a
few months later we’re going to put them through the same
thing - that isn’t going to win us any friends if we do
those releases too close to each other.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:#1F497D"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:#1F497D">There comes a
point where if we don’t release this build, we wait. I don’t
know where that point is, but it is getting nearer all the
time. There really isn’t much left to do, I think, and I
think if we don’t have this ready by the end of June, we
wait. I don’t want to wait because I expect the summer time
is a good time for people to do upgrades etc, but maybe that
isn’t necessarily the case, but I think making two releases
in less than 3 months is too frequent. Also, I suspect the
HTML5 output will be a bigger draw than multi-language
support, for most people, and I don’t want to do anything
that stops people engaging with the HTML5 work.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
