From Julian.Tenney at nottingham.ac.uk Wed Dec 12 13:12:44 2018 From: Julian.Tenney at nottingham.ac.uk (Julian Tenney) Date: Wed, 12 Dec 2018 13:12:44 +0000 Subject: [Xerte-dev] FW: [apereo-projects] NOW OPEN! Call for Proposals for Open Apereo 2019 In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: For info? Subject: NOW OPEN! Call for Proposals for Open Apereo 2019 Open Apereo 2019: Affordability and Innovation for Higher Ed Los Angeles, CA | June 2-6, 2019 Learn more at the Open-Source Conference for Education PROPOSAL DEADLINE IS JANUARY 25th! The Open Apereo 2019 Call for Proposals is open NOW! Click Here to Submit Today What is the Open Apereo 2019 conference? Open Apereo is the open-source conference for education. It's an international, inclusive event offered by the Apereo Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to developing and sustaining innovative open-source software solutions for education. There are projects related to learning tools and environments, media capture and management, authoring learning materials, portals, authentication, learning analytics, and more. This year's conference will be held in Los Angeles, California, USA from June 2-6, 2019. Why does open source matter to higher education? Affordability and sprawling student debt are major issues for higher education. These challenges become magnified with the increasing pace of technology change and a desire to innovate towards more flexible systems to meet student and faculty needs. How do institutions meet challenge of sustaining innovation? Open-source software can help. Institutions that invest in open-source software as part of their software procurement strategy retain flexibility to both control costs and adapt to changing needs, circumstances, and challenges. Why submit a conference presentation? Whether you are working with Apereo tools or not, we're interested in hearing about your ideas and solutions to current academic challenges. Share the teaching and learning, development, or leadership approaches that have been successful for your team or institution. Or spark a conversation about a key topic or issue that you feel needs a new, open-source approach, tool, or project to address. We invite you to submit a proposal now - Click Here to Submit Today Conference website - https://www.apereo.org/conferences/open-apereo-2019 We are seeking proposals for presentations or discussion sessions in these tracks: * Strategy & Leadership * Student Success * Faculty Focus * Tech Dive * Facing the Future DEADLINE AND REVIEW The final proposal deadline is January 25, 2019. The program committee will review and accept submissions during the open submission period. The committee expects to have proposals reviewed and final acceptances by mid-February. We look forward to your proposal! Message-ID: <00ea01d49301$8f178280$ad468780$@mitchellmedia.co.uk> Apologies for any cross posting. Hi all You're receiving this via this Xerte list so presumably you are using or are interested in Xerte but also all things related to Technology Enhanced Learning or whatever you choose to call it in your organisation! You may also be aware of the Future Teacher Project and our use of Xerte to deliver webinars and free resources on a whole host of Teaching and Learning topics like online learning what works, appropriate assessment, rich media, inclusive learning and so on. Most of our free resources are created with and delivered via Xerte and the recordings of all the Future Teacher Talks (Webinars) are available via a Xerte Bootstrap project at https://xot.futureteacher.eu/play.php?template_id=4 The reason for this message and reminder now is that we have now finalised the programme for our Future Teacher Conference in York UK on the 9th January and although all of the sessions may be of interest there are two in particular that we thought we should mention on these Xerte lists: Inclusive Learning The FutureTeacher conference in York on 9th January has a strong strand for inclusive practice and policy. Alistair McNaught is delivering a two hour morning workshop on inclusion and a 45 min afternoon session on supporting reading and writing skills. All the workshops have useful takeaways including follow up staff development resources. These are all creative commons licensed, created with Xerte Online Toolkits therefore downloadable and entirely repurposeable for your own contexts. Using Xerte for repurposing our Future Teacher Resources I'm running a session on repurposing the Future Teacher resources or indeed any other Xerte resources for your own institution. If staff development is one of the headaches you anticipate from the new regulations this is definitely worth taking a look at. Obviously a single conference won't solve all your worries but it will be a very good introduction to the practices and policies that make a difference - and the other sessions in the conference will be great too! You can see the programme here. Places are filling quickly so if you are interested do look at the programme. You can book via the links on the page. If you do come along make a point of coming and introducing yourself! https://bit.ly/ft30ukconference BW Ron -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
