So, I've had some more info from him now. It doesn't work consistently on any browser or device. Occasionally he can login and it works ok but most of the time it won't. Earlier today he managed to login ok but then after logging out & back in again a few minutes later it won't work.

He says he tends to always logout by clicking the logout button rather than just closing window - not sure this is relevant but I've never had this issue & never bother with using the proper logout button.
