It is an invalid response by

website_code/php/templates/get_templates_sorted.php

And yes, that could have to do with db problems, but also timeout (it 
takes to long to get all the items in your workspace).

Check what the contents are of response (assigned on line 647 of 
website_code/scripts/template_management.js) in the console of your 
browser. That should give you a hint.
