Hi Ron,

I know what you mean but it might be possible, even by having a "migrate.php" script similar to upgrade.php which checks that the settings on the new server...

I like the idea of having URLs with long ids though but I think the problem is that all the references will still be to /USER-FILES/xx-yy-Nottingham/media etc so you could always figure out the xx-yy part and revert to using /play_xx if it was public. Definitely something we could look into when we come to redo the Workspace. I like the idea of making it more modular. Pat's done a great job at making it easy to add new tabs for example but we could have packages you could add that would add code to interact with bitly api for example that would automatically get a short URL and qrcode etc... similarly with some of the other services...

But then what about upgrades? Or moves from one server to another?

Any changes would obviously need to be backwards compatible.

If we're talking about a todo or wish list I've always liked the idea of
secret url's as an additional option e.g. the kind of longe url's that can't
be guessed like provided by Google, Drobox, YouTube, Mahara etc. Also a
built-in url shortener or perhaps an external service e.g. xerte.ly ;-)

Cant we detect if rewriting is possible and enable it in setup if it is?
Then more users could benefit directly from /play_12345 type urls...

I could see a case for phasing it out in version 3, or writing a very hungry
htaccess rule and modifying the url structure

I suppose so. You think it's worth removing the internal ones? I see their
use for public urls

Like Ron i'm not sure how many people use them as i've only seen a couple
and from history i've found these rewrite rules to be most useful for public
urls. Seems that we are making heavy use of them for internal urls though
which seems unnecessary and gives more possibility that the rules will
break...

Cheers. The rules pretty much have worked, so no need to review their

from problem to culprit (at least for me).

Sorry haven't had much time but just quickly tested Niko's suggested change
of order on my install and that does fix the 1.2 export so now all 4 export
options work and the order of my .htaccess export lines are similar to this
order:

rewriteRule ^export_local_([0-9]+)$
/toolkits/website_code/php/scorm/export.php?template_id=$1&local=true&scorm=
false

rewriteRule ^export_local_([0-9]+)?(.*)$
/toolkits/website_code/php/scorm/export.php?template_id=$1&local=true&scorm=
false&$2

rewriteRule ^export_full_([0-9]+)$
/toolkits/website_code/php/scorm/export.php?full=true&template_id=$1&scorm=f
alse

rewriteRule ^export_full_([0-9]+)?(.*)$
/toolkits/website_code/php/scorm/export.php?full=true&scorm=false&template_i
d=$1&$2

rewriteRule ^export_([0-9]+)$
/toolkits/website_code/php/scorm/export.php?template_id=$1&scorm=false

rewriteRule ^export_([0-9]+)?(.*)$
/toolkits/website_code/php/scorm/export.php?template_id=$1&scorm=false&$2

rewriteRule ^scorm2004_([0-9]+)$
/toolkits/website_code/php/scorm/export.php?template_id=$1&scorm=2004

rewriteRule ^scorm2004_([0-9]+)?(.*)$
/toolkits/website_code/php/scorm/export.php?template_id=$1&scorm=2004&$2

rewriteRule ^scorm_rich_([0-9]+)$
/toolkits/website_code/php/scorm/export.php?template_id=$1&data=rich&scorm=t
rue

rewriteRule ^scorm_rich_([0-9]+)?(.*)$
/toolkits/website_code/php/scorm/export.php?data=rich&scorm=true&template_id
=$1&$2

rewriteRule ^scorm_([0-9]+)$
/toolkits/website_code/php/scorm/export.php?template_id=$1&scorm=true

rewriteRule ^scorm_([0-9]+)?(.*)$
/toolkits/website_code/php/scorm/export.php?template_id=$1&scorm=true&$2

I can't comment on the htaccess.conf but if it's now the same order as above
then seems correct. To be honest I'm not sure how many installs out there
even make use of the apache mode setting. You only have to look at the full
url's of the examples that get shared.

It seems that the order of rewriteRules in htaccess is responsible for this
(One can export scorm 2004 but not scorm 1.2).

The order of rules is now:
rewriteRule ^scorm2004_([0-9]+)?(.*)$
*/website_code/php/scorm/export.php?template_id=$1&scorm=2004&$2
rewriteRule ^scorm_([0-9]+)?(.*)$
*/website_code/php/scorm/export.php?template_id=$1&scorm=true&$2
rewriteRule ^scorm_rich_([0-9]+)?(.*)$
*/website_code/php/scorm/export.php?template_id=$1&data=rich&scorm=true&$2
Where greedy "scorm_([0-9]" apparently spoils "scorm_rich_([0-9]".

My suggestion -

1. (tested): change this order (in \setup\htaccess.conf ) to:
rewriteRule ^scorm2004_([0-9]+)?(.*)$
*/website_code/php/scorm/export.php?template_id=$1&scorm=2004&$2
rewriteRule ^scorm_rich_([0-9]+)?(.*)$
*/website_code/php/scorm/export.php?template_id=$1&data=rich&scorm=true&$2
rewriteRule ^scorm_([0-9]+)?(.*)$
*/website_code/php/scorm/export.php?template_id=$1&scorm=true&$2

2. or (untested): use [L] flag.

The same should be with lines:
rewriteRule ^export_...
rewriteRule ^export_full_...
rewriteRule ^export_local_...
